MacBook Air, Day One

My new MacBook Air arrived today. I’ll spare you the unboxing photographs, but I will comment on one thing I thought was strange. On initial setup, the Migration Assistant gives the option of importing information from another Mac. One option is to import the users’ entire home directory (wirelessly!). Sounds nice, but my home directory on my 24″ iMac has over 240 GB of data on it. The Air’s hard drive has only an 80 GB capacity, yet there is no ability to select what out of the home directory is imported. For example, I would have thought that Apple would allow you to NOT import your music and video library, for example.

That said, this is a beautiful machine (in the same way that the Audi S5 is). They keyboard is firmer than on any Apple laptop I’ve ever owned (Duo 230c–>Clamshell iBook–>G3 Powerbook–>G4 TiBook–>MacBook).
